Hi Livon, Stump grinding generally is up to personal preference. Removing the stump is usually overlooked, serving as a momento of the tree that once stood there. Many people don't mind them. For some species of deciduous trees, such as cottonwood, willow, or maple; leaving the stump promotes the potential for new sucker growth, resulting in a new tree. Grinding the stump entirely prevents this occurrence.
